40 performers shuffled on and off stage at Ardmore Music Hall to sing Bob Dylan’s songs as he turns 82 years old.
Born in 1941 in Minnesota, Dylan has spent most of his childhood in the town of Hibbing where he taught himself how to play musical instruments.
He then featured in many different bands while studying at the University of Minnesota.
But it was his passion in music that eventually made him become a household name for more than six decades.
Dylan’s lengthy catalog represents the most significant creations in American rock and folk music.
Hits like ‘I Shall Be Released,’ ‘Tangled Up In Blue,’ ‘Like A Rolling Stone,’ ‘All Along The Watchtower,’ and ‘Maggie’s Farm’ are only a small element of his legacy.
The Grammy-winning artist also released multiple albums over the years like Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, Time Out of Mind, and The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.
Supporters and musicians have taken to social media to wish the singer a happy birthday.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr shared lyrics of the music legend’s ‘Masters of War,’ writing: “Few have said it as well as Bob Dylan: ‘Come you masters of war. You that build all the guns. You that build the death planes. You that build the big bombs. You that hide behind walls. You that hide behind desks. I just want you to know I can see through your masks… Let me ask you one question.
“Is your money that good? Will it buy you forgiveness, do you think that it could? I think you will find, when your death takes its toll, all the money you made will never buy back your soul.’ Happy 82nd birthday, Bob!”
Rock band The Doors also tweeted: “Happy Birthday to the legendary Mr. @BobDylan. Much like The Doors, Dylan was no stranger to controversy and did not play by the rules.
“Bob declined a performance on THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW in 1963 due to censorship. The Doors would later go on to get in hot water for the same issue in 1967, defying orders to change the lyrics in ‘Light My Fire.’”
One fan wrote: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most important man in the world!!!!! bob dylan turns 82 years old today and I’m making it everyone’s problem. music would mean nothing without you bobby!!!!”
