John Cena is opening up about a former skin cancer diagnosis to bring attention to the significance of wearing sunscreen.
The star was seen speaking about how he grew up in Massachusetts and never gave skin care much importance. During the 70s and 80s, he never wore sunscreen.
Though Cena later moved to Florida, and that’s where he really fell in love with the sun, but still chose to neglect protecting his skin.
‘I was so stubborn. I did not wish to continue with any routine, and I also thought about the issue never reaching me!’- he shared. Now, it’s one of those things where he says he would have a ton of exposure with little protection and never thought twice about the damage done.
The star shared how a routine checkup at the doctor’s office left him in shock as he was informed that his lax attitude related to sunscreen got the best of him.
There was a cancerous spot removed from his right pec, and being told that it would have spread so quickly and killed him if it had not been removed on time has left him in silence.
The 16-time WWE star mentioned how he’s now the face for Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 70 because he wants people not to make the mistake that he did.
