The American Music Awards took a surprising turn today when audience members seated front row began to boo famous RnB singer Chris Brown after he won a gong at the high-profile ceremony.
The news comes just a few days after he claimed that his planned and much anticipated Michael Jackson tribute at the event had been scrapped by organizers of the show at the last minute.
The 33-year-old superstar picked up the Favorite Male R&B Artist Award but didn’t show up to the event to accept it. Therefore, in his absence, it was Kelly Rowland who accepted the award but little did she know about the feedback the audience would give on the singer’s achievement.
As the name was announced, many couldn’t help but control their emotions and hence began to boo the news as Kelly made her way onto the stage. She told the audience to ‘chill out’ and while they continued to boo, she said, ‘excuse me, please chill out!’
Kelly and many others were appalled by the chorus of boos that broke out all of a sudden. The famous star from the girl band Destiny’s Child told the audience that she was so proud of Chris and that the fact that he won was definitely a major achievement. She similarly lauded him for all of his contributions to the music industry.
“Thank you for everything, Chris. Thank you for making some great RnB hits and thank you for being a great performer!”- the singer mentioned while getting the award.
The news comes just a few days after we heard about the AMA’s sudden axe out his famous Michael Jackson tribute. The star went public with the news and wished things were different as it was scrapped from the lineup at the last minute.
