King Charles III has been busy hosting plenty of dignitaries, including US President Joe Biden, who have arrived to attend the Queen’s funeral that is scheduled for tomorrow.
But let’s just say the ‘reception of the century featuring thousands of well-known leaders has been called a little awkward and controversial. And that’s because King Charles had just met the President of Antigua and Barbuda.
Recently, both of these leaders had threatened to remove him as the Head of State of the Commonwealth. They had called for a referendum to ditch The Crown and eliminate the British Monarch’s leading position ahead of the reception.
King Charles could be seen waving, meeting, and greetings many, including the country’s new Prime Minister, Liz Truss.
Moreover, plenty of well-wishers could be heard in the background, cheering the new Sovereign on after his Rolls Royce arrived this afternoon at Buckingham Palace.
Right after his meeting with Truss, he shook hands with the leaders of Barbuda and Antigua; many called it extremely awkward. However, they did appreciate how the King remained calm and didn’t let the tense relationship affect him or his mood at the event.
The King and Queen Consort will reportedly host hundreds of dignitaries, from world leaders that include Justin Trudeau, Jacinda Ardern, and more senior members of the royal family, alongside ambassadors belonging to different nations.
Most dignitaries will also be given a chance to view the Queen’s coffin after a specific VIP time slot has been allocated for them.
Guests have also been requested to avoid wearing ball gowns and white ties, as is usually expected at state events like these.
They will all reportedly gather at 6 pm tomorrow for drinks and canapes at the Buckingham Palace picture gallery as well as the state apartments.
The news comes as another controversy hit a few days back regarding how Harry and Meghan had reportedly been uninvited from the state reception for world leaders.
