Prince Harry was reportedly ‘told’ by his father King Charles not to bring Meghan Markle to Balmoral Castle as he and other members of the Royal Family rushed to Balmoral Castle to see the Queen.
The Duke of Sussex was at Frogmore Cottage when he received a call from his father telling him not to bring the Duchess of Sussex, The Sun reported.
A source told the newspaper: “Charles told Harry that it wasn’t right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a deeply sad time.”
The insider continued: “It was pointed out to him that Kate was not going and that the numbers really should be limited to the very closest family.
“Charles made it very, very clear Meghan would not be welcome.”
According to The Telegraph, the Duke of Sussex was not initially summoned when other senior royals rushed to Balmoral.
An insider said that “it’s quite hard to spend too much time with someone you know is about to publish a tell-all book about you.”
Another royal insider said: “I think the general reaction to Harry and Meghan’s behavior has been one of incredulity to be honest.”
The announcement that Sussexes will travel to Balmoral came through a small group of media. A spokesperson said in a statement: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be traveling to Scotland.”
But it was immediately clarified that only Prince Harry would be going to the royal estate to see the Queen.
Only the two oldest children of the Queen – Charles and Anne – were present when she died at the age of 96.
Her other children, Andrew and Edward, arrived on a plane with William, who is now heir to the throne.
