Charlie Puth Honors Late Matthew Perry By Singing ‘Friends’ Theme Song At His Concert


American singer Charlie Puth has honored the late Matthew Perry by singing the Friends theme song at his concert.

The 31-year-old performer, who previously admitted he was a Friends super fan, learned that the Chandler Bing actor had died just moments before his weekend concert at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Shocked by the saddening news, Puth decided to honor the beloved actor by performing The Rembrandt’s ‘I’ll Be There For You’ in front of a packed audience.

The touching moment was caught on camera with clips from the concert taking over social media.

Puth previously met with the Friends cast’s Courteney Cox, who portrayed Monica Geller, on an episode of Billboard’s ‘Quizzed.’

In the episode, Cox asked the young man a series of questions about the sitcom most of which the singer answered correctly. After the game, Puth surprised the actress by playing the Friends theme song on his keyboard.

Later that month, Charlie also appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he met Rachel Green star Jennifer Aniston. After she sat of the arm of his chair, the singer famously told her that she smelled “so good.”

In a recent turn of events, it was revealed that Perry was found dead in the jacuzzi at his LA home on Saturday afternoon as first responders arrived at the scene following reports of a cardiac arrest.

While the autopsy will determine the exact cause of death, it is currently believed that the troubled actor died from drowning.

Matthew’s heartbroken family has since spoken out and gathered at his home.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend,” they said in a statement.

“You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
