A chef broke the world record for the longest time anyone has ever cooked without a break.
Hilda Effiong Bassey, who is also known as Hilda Baci, is a Nigerian chef and Instagram influencer who beat the Guinness World Record by cooking nonstop for 93 hours and 11 minutes.
The record was previously held by Lata Tondon from India who managed to cook for 87 hours and 45 minutes without sleep.
Baci has since her astounding achievement revealed that she was preparing for the challenge both mentally and physically by pushing herself to the limit in the gym ahead of her attempt at the world record.
The cooking marathon took place in Lekki, Nigeria, where the 26-year-old chef managed to serve as many as 3,000 people over the course of four days.
It was also revealed that she cooked a total of one hundred pots worth of food amounting to 3,000 – 3,500 servings.
“Even when it comes to the brands you want to work with, it is like you have to go an extra mile to be taken seriously,” Baci said as she revealed she wanted to prove to the world just how hardworking Nigerian women are.
After the cooking marathon came to an end, Baci was cheered on by hundreds of people who gathered to support her and applaud her achievement.
Praising the young chef on Twitter was also Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari who said:
“Hilda’s drive, ambition and resilience have brought great interest and insight into the uniqueness of Nigerian food.
“The energy here is very high and positive; everybody is having fun. So eating her food free of charge is not even the best of it.”
