Chris Rock has reportedly turned down the opportunity to host the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards along with four other comedians.
The 58-year-old actor and comedian, who was notoriously slapped in the face by Will Smith at the 2022 Academy Awards, is said to have declined to host the upcoming Golden Globes along with comedians Sean Hayes, Ali Wong, Jason Bateman, and Will Arnett.
While the reasons for their decision are not all that clear, Rock’s last major awards show hosting ended in total drama after the Hollywood A-lister Will Smith stormed the stage and slapped his face over a joke about his estranged wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.point 348 |

Meanwhile, CNN revealed that Ali Wong was also approached about the possibility only to decline the offer. Refusing to host the awards show were also SmartLess podcast co-hosts Sean Hayes, Will Arnett, and Jason Bateman.
It is also believed that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who co-hosted the Globes on four occasions in the past, are unlikely to return in 2024.
“They would never do it (again). They’re done,” a source told CNN.
Another insider, a celebrity publicist, also weighed in on the multiple refusals to host the event saying it was a “thankless job” that wasn’t worth the hassle.
“It’s not worth it. There are a lot of politics. It’s not easy and it’s not fun anymore,” they said.
Who would you like to see as the next host of the Golden Globes? Do you think the Oscars slap was responsible for Rock’s decision not to host the Globes next year?
