The Doomsday Clock is clicking closer to world annihilation in a terrifying new 2025 update.
Experts are speaking about how this is the closest that we’ve ever been to the catastrophic end of humanity.
Scientists shared more on this front including how the Doomsday clock currently sits at 89 seconds to midnight which is one second closer than what it was last year.
The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, which decides which hands are set, is the same group that went on to predict the Russia-Ukraine war, ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, and the growing threat of nuclear war, climate change, and looming bird flu.
It was also able to predict the pandemic and looming AI arms race, sources have shared. It’s said to be a Chicago non-profit organization that first created the clock in 1947 during the Cold War tensions that arose after WWII. This was to warn the general public about how close it was to destroying the world.
‘We set the clock closer towards midnight because we don’t see any sufficient positive progress on the global challenges we face’- one board member shared.
He also added how setting the Doomsday clock at 89 seconds to midnight is a warning to all leaders of the world. Since 2023, it was always set at 90 seconds to midnight this year scientists feel it would move forward to reflect growing issues globally.
