Amber Heard and Johnny Depp could have another go at each other in court after the actress once again accused the actor of hitting her.
Though Heard already lost in the blockbuster Depp-Heard defamation trial against her ex-husband after the jury couldn’t find any evidence supporting her claims, the Aquaman star doubled down on her allegations in an interview with Today.
During the bombshell interview, Heard insisted the trial was “unfair” as she claimed The Pirates of the Caribbean star managed to sway the jury to his side with his acting.
Less than two weeks after being ordered to pay her ex $10.35 million for defaming him in her op-ed for The Washington Post, Heard also claimed that Depp did beat her and that she will “stand by every word of her testimony until the day she dies.”
A legal expert has now spoken out to DailyMail.com and claimed the actress’s recent accusations in the Today interview present grounds for another lawsuit.
“This interview could count as a new ‘publication’ under the law, which could spur a third lawsuit,” entertainment lawyer Nicole Haff said of Heard’s repeated allegations.
As defamation and harassment law firm Minc Law also explains on its website, “an individual who repeats or republishes defamation will be subject to the same liability as the publisher of the original defamatory material.”
While the basis for the third lawsuit is in place, Haff believes it could be unwise for Depp to pursue another legal action since “Heard’s lawyers have already stated that she cannot pay the original judgment.”
