A 12-year-old girl was charged with murder after being accused of suffocating her eight-year-old cousin in bed.
According to reports from local media outlets, the girls were reportedly sharing a giant bunk bed that featured the eldest who turned 13 next week.
She is believed to have made use of bedsheets to try and prevent the younger cousin from breathing. After that, she allegedly tried to clean the victim. The suspect was identified as Demeria Hollingsworth by her mother Rayana.
She repositioned the child’s body and that’s something the investigators were able to notice after viewing home security footage of the ordeal.
The DAG for Memphis Tennessee explained how his office was not putting forward a petition for Juvenile Judge Mark Johnson to transfer the child to the Circuit Court and that is where she would be tried as an adult.
He further revealed how the incident is one of the most disturbing and tragic violent acts committed by either an adult or a juvenile and therefore the court must decide the punishment.
