The news comes thanks to researchers in South Africa that mentioned how the Covid infection mutates with time and we could soon be having a variant that’s deadlier than the rest.
This strain will reportedly be more intense than the milder versions that are dominating around the world, as mentioned in the new study.
The super infectious Omicron strain arose nearly a year back and its mutated versions have risen to the top in almost every single nation around the globe.
While they might be far milder than the older versions, researchers claim they are going to represent a new kind of end game for the COVID evolution, which like many other viruses before it, mutated to be milder so they can spread much more easily.
But South African researchers mentioned that the virus definitely has some sort of potential to get even deadlier after examining a certain HIV immunocompromised patient that harbored this particular virus for a whole year.
With time, the virus caused even more cell death and cell fusion. This led to the most severe form of inflammation in the lung region.
The patient on which the infection was conducted was mentioned to be one of the longest-known sufferers of Omicron. This was believed to have evolved due to patients having poor immune systems.
Due to having poor immunity, the body’s defense mechanism cannot clear out infection and that forces the virus to replicate with time.
