Two people were pulled out from a light aircraft which ended up crashing into a holiday park and burst into flames this afternoon.

At nearly 2:23 pm, the plane banked and then clipped a chimney before crashing near chalets on a site filled with Easter holiday visitors at the Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park in the Isle of Wight.

Witness accounts described the chaotic scenes with one observer recalling how they felt a shockwave and then heard a loud bang and saw lots of black smoke.

Police shared how the visitors rushed to pull two people from the wreckage before it burst into flames.

One person did suffer from minor injuries, but the public was able to rescue the pilots, and that was an act of sheer bravery.

There were two people inside the plane who needed assistance without regard for their own public safety. They were so brave, and that was a wonderful thing to do, the cops shared. The actions are why they’re alive today, the cops added.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight confirmed getting the call at 2:23 pm linked to this crash. A representative mentioned how the first responders, including fire and ambulance services, were able to reach on time.

The holiday part is still open to the public. One person shared how they witnessed the plane come over their head and hear the engines cut out.
