Three people were killed in a small plane crash that hit the Nebraska River, killing all those on board.
The aircraft was said to be flying along the Platte River, which is south of Fremont, when it hit the water, just after 8 pm local time on Friday evening.
Footage taken at the scene shows rescue vessels scouring the pitch black river following the incident.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was seen confirming later on how the remains of the flight’s three occupants were recovered and confirmed that they had all passed.
In a new statement issued by the authorities, ‘A small plane crashed while traveling along the Platte River south of Fremont when it hit the river. All the passengers on board were confirmed dead, and their identities won’t be released right now, pending the next of kin notification.
Now, the FAA and NTSB will take over to determine the exact cause of the crash, the statement shared. The crash is reportedly the latest in a string of horrifying aviation disasters that have hit the nation since the start of the year.
