Crocodile Dundee star Paul Hogan is reportedly “falling apart” after running into health issues.
The 83-year-old actor, who appeared in Australia’s highest-grossing movie, has opened up about his struggles in an interview with A Current Affair and revealed that he has lost almost all of his body fat and that he is too weak to open a jar.
Speaking to host Tracy Grimshaw, the comedian, who currently resides in Los Angeles, California, also revealed his last wish.
As Hogan insisted, he hopes to spend the remainder of his life back home in Australia but is unwilling to leave his son, Chance, behind.
“I’m not in the place I’m meant to be, but I’m not allowed to complain about anything. I’ve had such a gifted life,” Hogan says.
“I’ve had so many wonderful things happen to me without deserving them so I shouldn’t complain but, yeah, ideally I’d rather be back in Sydney because I miss the rest of my family there.”
Elaborating on his final wish in an interview with The Daily Telegraph, he added: “I miss the people, the ambience – and there’s something you just can’t put your finger on, but there’s something about Australia that is friendlier and more laid-back.
It never takes itself seriously – there’s no arrogance like there is in other places.”
Speaking to Grimshaw, the actor also admitted he remained fit before turning 80 when things “started falling apart” and he ran into health problems.
According to the 83-year-old, he can’t put on fat no matter what he eats. Steroid treatment that aimed to make him put on weight allegedly also didn’t work as intended.
To cope with his ailing health, Hogan recently also had a pacemaker fitted.
“[I’ve] been better. I had a problem on the aorta in the kidney and the treatment fixed it, but it shrunk me,” he explained.
“I just… I’ve lost all my body fat and the muscles all shrank and the strength has come back, because it left me feeble. I get Chance to open jars for me.”
Hogan added: “Quite a few of my friends on diets hate me for it because I try and eat everything fatty and lardy you can think of. Everything they’re not allowed to have. I can’t put on an ounce.”
