Damar Hamlin has begun raising money for the medical center where he’s being treated.
The 24-year-old NFL star suffered an extremely rare condition last Monday when he played with his Buffalo Bills team against Cincinnati Bengals.
Following his collapse on the field, the young safety was resuscitated twice and hospitalized at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Days later, Hamlin was finally well enough to have his breathing tube removed. He also shared a picture from his hospital bed as he shared his joy over his team’s performance in their match again the New England Patriots.
The footballer has since also launched the ‘Did We Win?’ line of T-shirts which sell for $33 a piece with the intention of raising funds for the medical center that’s looking after him.
“We all won. I want to give back an ounce of the love y’all showed me,” Hamlin tweeted on Sunday.
“Proceeds of this shirt will go to first-responders and the UC Trauma Center.”
He also shared the link to the online store where the T-shirts can be ordered.
Just hours earlier, Hamlin also spoke out for the first time since his hospitalization to reveal that he didn’t want anything more than to join his teammates on the field in their match against New England Patriots.
“GameDay.. Nothing I Want More Than To Be Running Out That Tunnel With My Brothers. God Using Me In A Different Way Today. Tell Someone You Love Them Today! Let’s go @BuffaloBills,” he wrote.
Our thoughts are with Damar as his recovery continues.
