Tragic details have emerged after David Gail’s sudden passing at the age of just 58.
The Savannah and Beverly Hills, 90210 star died unexpectedly last week with his longtime friend Peter Ferriero confirming his passing with a short statement that didn’t reveal the cause of death.
Now, it was revealed that the police are looking into the possibility of a drug overdose while awaiting toxicology results to either confirm or dismiss their concerns.
Law enforcement sources also told TMZ that foul play is not suspected and that the official cause of death is pending further investigation.
Gail was best known for his roles in Beverly Hills, 90210, Savannah, and Port Charles. He also appeared in a variety of other series including Matlock, The Round Table, Murder, She Wrote, JAG, and Doogie Howser.
His film credits include the likes of Some Girl (1998), Bending All the Rules (2002), Perfect Opposites (2004), and The Belly of the Beast (2008).
The actor’s death took his fans by surprise with many paying tribute to David and expressing their sympathies for his family.
“So sad tragic news loved him as Stuart. So sad forever Stuart Carson rip,” someone wrote.
“We loved David so much. He was one of the good guys in life,” Sheri Sussman of Spiral Gate Productions expressed.
One fan said: “Sending love to you and your family and am heartbroken he was the most loyal, supportive friend. I miss him already.”
The tributes come after David’s sister remembered her brother as he wingman and her best friend in an emotional post.
“There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me,” she wrote.
“The bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart you gorgeous loving amazing fierce human being missing you every second of every day forever there will never be another.”
