Two bodies were recovered from the Patapsco River after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore as per reports from rescue teams.
The head of the Maryland State Police announced during the early morning hours how the operation was shifted from rescue and search to just search and recovery.
The coast guard had already mentioned how no more could survive in such freezing water temperatures and therefore all the missing construction workers were presumed dead. These victims were believed to have been working on the bridge during the time it collapsed to the ground.
The harrowing discovery of two victims was found inside a giant red colored pickup truck that became submerged in nearly 25 feet of water near the middle part of the bridge. They were soon identified as Alejandro Fuentez and Darlene Rania. Both of their loved ones were informed about the heartbreaking news.
This was announced during a recently held press conference that shed light on the latest updates for the search mission after the Coast Guard announced zero hopes of finding any more survivors in the deep waters.
The ship is said to be stranded and containers featured onboard were said to be damaged causing a leak of hazardous and toxic material into the harbor, causing serious damage to the ecosystem.
