Two Delta Airlines planes have collided on the runway at one of the country’s busiest airports.
The incident reportedly took place at the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georga just after 10 am.
The crash took place after the Tokyo-bound flight DL295 clipped the back of flight DL5526 to Louisiana as it was taxiing off the runway for takeoff.
The regional jet which was an Endeavor Air CRJ-900 was left with a severed tail while the Airbus 350 sustained significant damage to the wing.
Dramatic images from witnesses appeared to show the back end of the plan which was bent at a whopping 90-degree angle.
So far, no injuries were reported but the damage done was very significant as can be seen in the clicks published online.
Tampa meteorologist for WTFS TV Jason Adams mentioned how he happened to be on the same plane when the devastating impact took place. He and 277 others had to witness it and it was not a pretty sight, scary to say the least.
He also mentioned how better security and precautionary measures were required in the future to stop this from taking place again.
