Denzel Washington and Wife Pauletta appeared all loved up as they enjoyed a quiet getaway in Italy.

The 68-year-old Hollywood star and his 72-year-old wife of forty years were pictured strolling through the streets of Portofino on Wednesday afternoon.

Dressed casually in an all-black outfit consisting of a Nike sweater, t-shirt, and slim-fit pants, Denzel put on a big smile as he walked side by side with Pauletta in rainy weather.

His wife sported a white ensemble including white jeans, a flowing sweater, and a visor.

The romantic outing comes after Washington spent the majority of his year shooting the third film in the Equalizer franchise in the Mediterranean country.

The movie, which is based on a namesake 1980s series, premiered on September 1 and has so far already grossed over $135 million.

“I think they’re connecting to him because he’s a common man. There’s nothing fancy about him or anything. He seems like somebody you sit down and have a tea with or a friend of yours. He just happens to be a brutal destroyer,” director Antoine Fuqua recently said of Washington’s character in Equalizer.

Speaking of his and Denzel’s efforts to make the movie more appealing to all generations, the director went on to say they were working to strike a balance on the extent of violence used in the third installment.

“The younger audience sometimes wants a little more, and then there’s a little more mature audience of Denzel fans, as well… even like my age where I got children now, where you go, ‘Okay, I’m good. That’s enough. I’m satisfied.’”
