Actress Amber Heard’s claims that she was downplayed big time in the latest sequel of the Aquaman film just might be true.
According to reports from local media outlets, the leading actress was given just eleven lines in total, throughout the film, and that took a lot of fans by surprise.
Seeing the 37-year-old star only get such a minor role in a huge blockbuster film is major news. She was reportedly only featured in the first 15 to 20 minutes, and for a huge name in the Hollywood industry, that’s a big deal.
The entire movie is for a whopping 124 minutes. After the bombshell legal case, plenty of speculations arose regarding the star and how fans did not wish to have her included. Some signed petitions to have her removed while others hoped she would be canceled forever, after the entire fiasco with her former husband.
The movie made its debut on Friday and a lot of the scenes featuring the actress are solely limited to her showing expressions. And while she might be good at doing them, others expected a little more respect as dialogue is necessary.
“Wow, didn’t expect to see a superheroine have nothing to do with a film. Why was she included in the first place?”- another fan asked.
Many people admitted to how she was removed from the movie’s main central plot after so many controversies arose.
Viewers threatened to boycott the movie if they found her in it. She was similarly excluded from the movie’s marketing campaigns as well as confirmed by insiders and that was not a coincidence. It was a major deal.
As it is, the movie failed to deliver the type of results many had anticipated. It fell short of making profits during the box-office opening and has also ended up getting mixed reviews from critics as well.
All in all, it holds a 36% score on Rotten Tomatoes too. Hence, the directors and production team certainly couldn’t have risked more by adding Heard in other parts of the film that may have further impacted its chances for success.
