The sister-in-law of Team USA star from the Olympics has reportedly passed away in Paris.
According to reports from local media outlets, she was the relative of three-time gold medal-winning star in water polo, Maggie Steffens. Reports of her sudden and tragic passing away were revealed today.
The news was confirmed by the coach of the team, Adam Krikorian who says the news was broken after the team beat Green during Saturday’s match that was the Olympic opener for that category.
Some reports speak about how she had died from a pulmonary embolism but that is yet to be confirmed by sources.
Krikorian mentioned how the news was a huge shocker for everyone on the night. They all stay so reunited and close and it now feels like one of their best cheerleaders is no longer with them.
The coach quoted how he had no idea about the circumstances of the incident and therefore requested the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
He hopes the family can come out of this with strength and many are sending out prayers and condolences during this difficult time.
Calling it a devasting incident for everyone who has traveled to watch Team USA play, he explained that this news made their win bittersweet.
