Dinner invitations may sound like fun and games but this next story is proof that anything can happen.

One woman is going viral online after it was mentioned that her best friend called her over for dinner. But soon afterward, she received the most bizarre text of them all.

It mentioned that she and others had to pay 20 pounds per person for the costs related to the meal that was served to them. And as you can imagine, she was not happy about that one bit.

Clearly, not only were friendship codes broken but so many others too. And in this situation, the friend claims to be left dumbfounded as were all the other guests.

The woman responded by sharing the story on Mumsnet because she was mortified at the audacity of the host. This was not some stranger that we were talking about. It was an individual who they all knew.

She began by mentioning how they graciously accepted the invite and even took a good bottle of wine as they did not wish to arrive empty-handed at someone’s front door. After all, these were the common manners.

They were all treated so well and the food was undoubtedly so well prepared. Everyone seemed to be having an absolute blast as good food, wine, and company always manages to set the tone for something spectacular.

But one day later, waking up to a text that demands them to pay for their share of attendance was mindblowing, not to mention downright rude.

Never once were they told to pitch in from the start. It was an invite and that means saying hello to eating for free. But the hosts claim that in today’s economic struggles, nothing is for free.
