The situation is not looking too good for the European Union as they’ve got another major crisis on their hands that they’ve been left to deal with.
According to local media reports, terrifying video footage has taken center stage that featured around 2000 migrants trying to storm a fence that separates Spain’s Melilla enclave from the country of Morocco.
On average, 500 people tried to enter the border control area right after they cut down a fence. And a further 130 were able to gain access.
In the shocking video, people are seen cheering and raising their arms high up in the air as they celebrated and ran through Melilla. As it is, Melilla and Ceuta have land borders with the EU and Africa and that makes them the center point of the target when it comes down to migrants who serve as magnets.
The scenes were described by witnesses as chaotic as thousands of migrants were coming in all directions. Meanwhile, other footage showed a massive number of migrants storming in during the early hours of dawn while others tried to enter the border control area right after they cut open a fence using shears.
The news was confirmed by Spain’s Government recently which claimed the situation got out of control real quick. And while most of the people were able to return back when authorities stepped in with the police trying to get the situation under control quickly.
It has been feared that these migrants are trying to escape their African homeland because of a rapid surge in food prices and also because of fears of unpredictable weather conditions and drought in the country.
At the same time, the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine means more issues related to supply and chain are taking center stage and that makes it so much harder for nations to reach adequate supply on time.
