TikTok Doctor Shares HEALTH HACKS For Living Up To 13 Years Longer

A doctor from Detroit used TikTok to explain the steps to help people extend their lives 13 years more.

Doctor Anthony Youn, from Detroit, shares the result of a new study called “Estimating the impact of food choices on life expectancy” that can help people to live up to 13 years longer.

The doctor was also known as @tonyyounmd on TikTok, he has 7.6M followers, 235.1M likes, and has hundreds of videos on his account. The viral clip was captioned with: “How to live 13 years longer!” and has garnered 32,800 likes, 735 comments, and 1,591 shares.

Referring to the findings from the research article published in PLOS Medicine, Dr. Youn shared the top six tips that could add over a decade to your life.

Dr. Youn’s sixth health tip is to eat more fish, which contains a lot of healthy Omega 3 fats. The fifth diet on the list says that you should drink fewer sugary drinks like Soda Pops.

Number four is to eat more nuts and seeds which are healthy sources of fat and protein, while number three is to eat less red meat and processed meat like bacon and sausage.

Second on the list is to eat more legumes, like beans, peas, and lentils. These are great sources of plant-based protein and fiber.

And on the top of his list, which he says could potentially add years to your life, is to eat more whole grains like buckwheat, oatmeal, and brown rice. This is instead of refined grains, like white rice and white pasta.

Dr. Youn pointed out that the authors of the study did not distinguish between the quality of the meat referenced in the article, and said he believes there is a difference between grass-fed beef and wild-caught fish versus the conventional alternative.

The doctor’s clip amassed over a quarter of a million views and hundreds of comments on social media and several social media users have the same conflicting views over the said diet methods.

One person commented: “I knew this vegan; organic whole grain diet was going to pay off.” A second viewer wrote: “I’m not trying to live in a capitalist hellscape longer bring on the processed foods.”

While a third person joked around saying: “How can I live shorter too.” Some viewers joked about the tips, with one quipping: “I’m not trying to live in a capitalist hellscape longer bring on the processed foods.”

Another viewer asked: “Doesn’t being in love help you live longer too?” To which the doctor replied: “I think so!”

In the comments, he added: “Some other recommendations from this study: eat more fruits and vegetables and reduce consumption of dairy. Good things!” He also explained that some people don’t react well to gluten, so he advised them to reduce wheat to help them “feel healthier”.

The doctor has also gone viral begore after sharing a host of tips on how to “hack” our bodies including how we can see in the dark, and get rid of hiccups for good. The popular posts racked up over 390,000 views combined, as well as 77,000 likes.
