Donald Trump has officially confirmed he is running for president of the United States in 2024.
The MAGA leader, who previously teased a 2024 run for president, has now put all rumors to rest by officially announcing his run while saying that “America’s comeback starts right now.”
According to the reports, the 45th US President already filed the necessary paperwork at the Federal Election Commission ahead of his speech at Mar-a-Lago.
Addressing his supporters, the Republican summoned “USA” chants as he took a jab at Biden’s administration and blamed the 46th US president for record inflation and for making the States “detestable” in the eyes of the rest of the world.
Tearing into Biden in a fiery speech, Trump accused the president of allowing drugs to be “poured” into the country thanks to lax immigration policies while insisting that botched withdrawal from Afghanistan was the country’s most “embarrassing” moment.
Trump’s announcement comes the same day he blasted his Republican competitor Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, by calling him “disloyal” and branding him as “Ron DeSanctimonious.”
Trump’s attack comes after 43% of Republicans from Texas said they would vote for DeSantis – as opposed to only 32% who would vote for Trump – should the presidential election take place today.
The post-midterm-election poll was commissioned by the Republican Party of Texas.
Responding to Trump’s provocative statements, DeSantis downplayed the comments while taking a jab at “corporate media.”
“When you’re leading, when you’re getting things done, yeah you take incoming fire – that’s just the nature of it. I roll out of bed in the morning, I’ve got corporate media outlets just having a spasm over the fact that I’m getting up in the morning. And it’s constantly attacking, and this is just what’s happened,” he said.
“I think what you learn is, all that’s just noise. And really what matters is – are you leading, are you getting in front of issues, are you delivering results for people and are you standing up for folks? And if you do that, then none of that stuff matters.”
He concluded: “At the end of the day, I would just tell people to check out the scoreboard from last Tuesday night.”
