Donald Trump has spoken out following a dramatic FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
On Monday, a historic raid took place as federal agents descended on the former president’s property in a presumed search for possible classified documents that Trump might have taken home with him when he left the White House.
After the search warrant was executed and the Mar-a-Lago residence was searched in detail, Trump lashed out at the “banana republic” government and accused the White House of knowing about the raid in advance.
“Biden knew all about this, just like he knew all about Hunter’s ‘deals,’” he wrote in his Truth Social post.
Comparing the United States to a third-world country, the 45th US President went on to suggest that the raid was politically motivated and part of continued attacks on him by the “radical left.”
“A horrible thing that took place yesterday at Mar-a-Lago. We are no better than a third world country, a banana republic,” Trump wrote.
“It is a continuation of Russia, Russia, Russia, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax # 2, the no collusion Mueller Report, and more.”
He added: “To make matters worse it is all, in my opinion, a coordinated attack with Radical Left Democrat state & local D.A.’s & A.G.’s.”
The historic raid – which marks the first time the home of a former US president was raided – has sparked fury among Republicans with a number of high-ranking politicians demanding an immediate explanation.
“The country deserves a thorough and immediate explanation of what led to the events of Monday. Attorney General Garland and the Department of Justice should already have provided answers to the American people and must do so immediately,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said a day after the raid.
As of this writing, the details surrounding the FBI raid remained clouded in mystery.
While the White House denied knowing about the raid in advance, the Justice Department failed to confirm whether the search was personally authorized by Attorney General Merrick Garland.
“We are a nation that has weaponized its law enforcement against the opposing political party, like never before,” Trump angrily said in his Tuesday video.
“What took place yesterday, and long before, was an unprecedented infringement of the rights of every American citizen.”
