With Easter just one-day away, agencies are playing an important role by raising awareness about the detrimental consequences attached to the consumption of Kinder’s chocolate egg.
According to local media reports, a 3-year-old boy was recently rushed to the hospital while more than 70 other children were reported to have fallen sick due to eating the Kinder Surprise last month.
Sources believe these alarming reports should give parents a clear indication to steer clear of the product during the Easter holidays as it is known to be a classic celebration during this time of year.
The popular chocolate dessert seems to be the sole cause behind salmonella poisoning in the alarming number of children’s cases that have led to an outbreak in the United Kingdom.
The most recent case is known to have affected a 3-year-old boy named Billy Way who reportedly consumed his brother’s chocolate egg last month and became terribly ill, moments after that.
Billy was rushed to a nearby local hospital after suffering from severe salmonella poisoning symptoms that made him extremely sick.
Doctors at Noah’s Ark Children’s hospital immediately admitted him and began his treatment in Cardiff where he was kept on a drip due to his symptoms.
Moreover, reports even went as far as stating how doctors started to fear the worst, even imagined that he might soon enter into a state of coma due to his blood sugar.
The victim’s 26-year-old mother revealed how she had never in her wildest dreams imagined that a Kinder egg could be responsible for her son’s drastic health condition.
After being admitted, doctors ran a series of tests and that’s when they found traces of salmonella inside his feces.
The news comes as so many reports are calling for a boycott of the product after Kinder reportedly shut down its factory in Belgium in June.
“He was so excited to eat the chocolate surprise because of the toy inside but after seeing his health, I became so scared. I literally thought he was going to die”- she continued.
Common signs and symptoms of the child included vomiting, diarrhea, and extreme weakness to such an extent that he couldn’t even hold down his own weight on the ground.
