For the special occasion, which marks the first time the actor wore a suit to the Oscars, Elliot donned a Gucci piece and a black bowtie.

Calling the moment “special” and “joyful” in an Instagram Live marking the beginning of the Trans Week of Visibility and Action, Page admitted he’s never felt more like himself than during his first Oscars since he came out.

“I feel the best I’ve ever felt like, like, I feel the way that I really actually never thought was possible,” the 35-year-old Juno star revealed.

“Just the degree now that I can feel present, simply that I can feel present in a space without this incessant underlying anxiety or some sort of feeling like I need to flee.”

He added: “All those things are really special, wonderful, joyful moments where you’re looking at a photograph and it’s really cool to see yourself for the first time — or the person you already saw but here they are, like, they’re f***ing emerging.”

Elliot’s Oscars appearance comes 14 years after his Best Actress nomination for the 2007 movie Juno. While the actor previously wore a black Jean-Louis Scherrer dress to the Oscars, he in a 2021 interview with Oprah admitted that even looking at pictures of himself in a dress was too painful.

During this year’s Academy Awards, Elliot marked the 15th anniversary of Juno alongside co-stars Jennifer Garner and JK Simmons.

While on stage, the 35-year-old said: “Juno had me hooked from the very first page and was completely infused with [screenwriter] Diablo Cody’s distinctive voice. It was unlike anything I’d ever read before.”
