Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria fans reacted with absolute shock and sadness at the news today that the star Eric Dane is living with a form of deadly motor neurone disease.

The statement that was shared with People Magazine mentioned how the 52-year-old star had been handed the devastating diagnosis of ALS that would destroy his nervous system with time.

He is so grateful that he’s got his loving family and friends by his side, he shared in an emotional post.

Dane, who is currently working on HBO’s famous hit series Euphoria, plays the role of Cal Jacobs. He’s going to continue with his work and looks forward to going back to the set from next week.

The television hunk is famous for playing the role of Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy from the year 2006, where he played Jason Dean in the fantasy drama series Charmed, and also starred in movies like Marley & Me, Burlesque, and Valentine’s Day.

The news came just a month after Dane and his partner model Rebecca Gayheart called off their divorce.
