Ethan Crumbley’s parents have now been accused of child neglect after a former neighbor claimed their young son was home alone while they were out drinking.
James and Jennifer Crumbley have been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter each after their son, 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley, shot and killed four Oxford High School students with his father’s gun.
Now, the Oxford couple is facing fresh allegations, whereas one of their former neighbors from Lake Orion, Kayla LeMieux, insists that their child was neglected.
According to a Detroit Free Press report, LeMieux claimed that James and Jennifer would leave Ethan home alone to go drinking in downtown bars back in 2014 and 2015 when the boy was just 8 to 9 years old.
She also recalled the alleged times Ethan would knock on her door and ask her to call his parents because “they didn’t leave him with a phone.”
“When they were gone, he would come knock on our door. They didn’t leave him with a phone,” LeMieux said.
Though LeMieux and Jennifer became friends while working together at the same restaurant, their friendship fell apart after the worried neighbor confronted them about their habits.
“It was really when I finally started to say more, because I was just like, even after calling CPS, they were still doing it and even me saying something to them, they were still like ‘Oh he is fine,’” LeMieux added.
As the couple’s former neighbor also claimed, she was allegedly so concerned about the boy and his parents’ behavior that she reported them to Children’s Protective Services.
She never managed to find out, however, whether any action was taken as a result of her report to the Children’s Protective Services.
