Italian prosecutors are trying to figure out more details as to how a potentially unsinkable superyacht ended up sinking in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Sicily.
But that’s not the only question on people’s minds. Many are confused about the tragedy that left seven people dead.
It’s astonishing how the captain of the vessel and all of his team members were able to make it out alive. So now, experts are trying to piece the puzzle together as to why the victims were not able to save themselves but the entire crew was.
Only the boat’s chef was found dead while the remaining six were regular clients onboard the luxury ship.
Now, the captain of the vessel is being interrogated for a possible manslaughter charge and a shipwreck. As reported by the Italian local news agencies, he’s already faced a grueling round of questions but it seems like investigators are back for more.
While none of the charges deem him a criminal, it’s normal practice when investigating such cases to call out the crew.
Other reports are talking about how and why the vessel was docked in an area known for poor weather. Last-minute harrowing sounds from the black box recordings revealed that the anchor just could not withstand the pressure of so much water entering.
