More controversy surrounding the mega FIFA world cup sporting event continues as fresh allegations hit Qatar this morning.
According to reports from local media outlets, the country has been accused of hiring on board a bunch of fake fans who would be posing as supporters of the English soccer team.
The news comes just a few days before the grand FIFA World Cup is due to begin during the weekend in Qatar. It is being dubbed as one of the world’s most controversial tournaments in the mega event’s history. Moreover, so many familiar faces and leading public figures have opted to drop out amid the drama occurring.
Those who had signed some leading contracts with the country to pose and promote the tournament are slowly dropping out like flies as the nation faces a lot of horrifying reports of human rights abuses and the growing negativity and hatred of the nation against the LGBTQ+ community.
At the same time, we’re seeing a long list of leading singers also reject huge money offers that were allotted to them to perform at the opening ceremony. This includes the likes of Rod Stewart and Dua Lipa who both took to their accounts on social media to speak on the matter.
Dua Lipa really shocked fans when she confirmed that all reports of her performance were fake and she had never conducted negotiations with the nation regarding her performance. She hoped that Qatar could get its act straight in terms of shocking claims of human rights abuse arising in the nation.
On the other hand, it was appalling to see the former President of FIFA who saw Qatar win the bid for the 2022 World Cup finally lash out in public that it was indeed the wrong decision or a mistake to allow the nation to host such a grand sports competition.
