With just a day left for the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, more controversies are growing as we speak.
Videos of supporters from the upcoming World Cup have led to more accusations that fake fans were taking part to help boost the tournament’s publicity.
According to reports from local media outlets, there were so many fans featuring shirts that arose from different nations. And that just made one wonder which country such people belonged to in the first place.
The news comes as more and more speculation grows that Qatar has paid people so they could pretend to be the supporters.
Today, the FIFA president was seen giving a long speech about how they feel the tournament has been steeped in so much misunderstanding and abuse that just was not necessary in the world of sports. He dismissed all allegations related to fake fans and called it out as obnoxious and nothing but pure racism.
He also bashed those trying to do everything in their power to dim the limelight that such sporting events have in terms of promoting positivity and peace around the world.
Last week, the FIFA president called for Ukraine and Russia to take part in a ceasefire till the World Cup lasted so fans from all around the globe could enjoy sports and promote peace.
Today, other reports showed fans reaching their FIFA world cup village ahead of time and being awfully disturbed and disappointed at the poor conditions in place.
From construction debris lying around to heated conditions across the board, it just was not many people’s cup of tea.
Moreover, a media team was busy recording the live state of the stadium when all of a sudden, they were intercepted by Qatari officials. The latter vowed to destroy their cameras if they chose to share the conditions of the world and expose the reality taking place.
