Prince Harry and Prince William had said something in a throwback video that suggested a potential feud with each other.
In February 2018, a few months before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in a glorious wedding at Windsor Castle, they appeared alongside Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton at an interview and Q&A held for their Royal Foundation Forum.
It was also during a more harmonious period when Prince Harry, still had his senior royal position and tended to official duties. Royal fans were delighted to see the two royal couples working together as a team.
When the Duchess of Sussex was first engaged to Prince Harry, she was almost immediately trusted into royal life and worked with the Cambridges in their first-ever engagement branded as the “Fab Four”.
The Sussexes expressed their excitement about working as a team and getting stuck into good causes. The couple also mentioned their wedding plans.
Speaking in a Q&A session, the royals were asked what were some of the challenges like having to work with family. The Fab 4 were asked if they “ever have disagreements.”
Seeing the responses from Prince William and Prince Harry, was a telling sign that something was going on even if it was not clear at the time. Prince William burst into laughter and said: “Ohhhh yes”.
Prince Harry then clarified they were “healthy disagreements” and joked they “come so thick and fast” when asked what the last thing they quarreled on was. He then added: “Working with family does have its challenges, but we’re stuck together for the rest of our lives.”
Since those remarks, Prince Harry and Meghan split from the Royal Foundation and later stepped down as working royals in order to start a new life in America.
Much has been made of the rift between the two brothers with their frosty relationship reportedly sparked by William’s concerns over Harry’s fast-developing relationship with Meghan ahead of their royal wedding in 2018.
Over the years, with strained relationships, complicated family dynamics, and royal politics taking full impact, the once coined title the “Fab 4” appears to be a thing of the past.
In his widely anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry claimed his brother and father, Prince Charles was, “trapped” inside the royal family.
He said: “My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave. And I have huge compassion for that.”
The prince revealed there had been a distance between him and his brother since he and his wife Meghan had stepped back from the royal family. He said: “As I’ve said before, I love William to bits. He’s my brother. We’ve been through hell together. We have a shared experience, but we were on different paths.”
He also added that the brothers were having “space at the moment,” but said he still loves his brother and added, “time heals all things, hopefully.”
Since leaving the UK in early 2020, Prince Harry has only seen his brother twice, at the funeral of Prince Philip and at the unveiling of a statue of their late mother Princess Diana.
Meanwhile, Kate recently paid a visit to Shout, a mental health text service set up by the Royal Foundation in 2019 when the four royals were all a part of it.
When visiting the service in London’s Notting Hill, Kate was flying solo as she met volunteers and those who have raised funds for the organization.
