The famous rat who gained fame for clearing out so many mines in Cambodia has reportedly passed away after a successful career.
Magawa the rat passed away peacefully at the age of eight, after going through a successful career that lasted five long and precious years.
Magawa was deemed to be an absolute star for his relentless efforts in saving so many lives by sniffing out so many land mines that could have killed so many lives. For this reason, he was the most popular and sought-after animal and had even gone on to receive a gold medal for his great work.
The heartbreaking news about his death was recently announced over the weekend by the APOPO charity who released a public statement.
The rat spent all of last week playing with enthusiasm then showed signs of slowing down, signaling that his end was near.
In total, the famous rat managed to discover at least 71 landmines in the Cambodian nation which occurred during his five-year-long career.
His gold medal was a distinct and historic moment that was awarded by the PDSA in the year 2020.
The person taking care of him said that the animal passed away so peacefully and he showed clear signs of slowing down as he had approached his age.
Magawa was reportedly trained by the Belgian charity APOPO, after which he could successfully clear up more than 34 acres of land throughout his famous career.
“All of us at the charity are feeling his loss and we couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible work that he has managed to complete.
Till today, Magawa is termed to be the most heroic and successful rat in history as many recall his diligence and hard work carried out for the betterment of mankind.
