A fan from Iran was seen breaking down into tears after her team’s national anthem was reportedly booed today.
Iran played a feisty match against Wales and managed to beat them but that didn’t stop others seated in the audience from booing the anthem.
In case you missed it, the team staged their own protest at the Qatar FIFA World Cup Stadium recently. They chose not to sing the anthem during the first game but today, it was the complete opposite.
But seeing Iran’s 2-0 victory was definitely a sweet ending to a bittersweet moment as sources spoke about how so much jeering and ridiculing was taking center stage in the Doha stadium today.
Many people went on to find it just so ironic that all of a sudden, the country starts to sing the anthem when they chose to do so otherwise on Monday in their previous game.
That was a clash that arose between England. Hence, today, when the players came out, they seemed to be in a different frame of mind.
According to reports from local media outlets, players were given no choice but to sing the anthem, even if it was a muted version.
They were stated as being threatened with retribution as the government felt it was a huge insult to the nation whom they happened to be representing.
But fans located in the stadium were very clear about how they felt in regards to the Tehran regime by jeering the song on.
As cameras began panning over the crowd, it was seen falling on one particular individual who was middle-aged. While holding his country’s flag in his hand, he wiped away so many tears.
While he sobbed, his mouth was open and the anthem continued to play over the speakers of the stadium.
