A father of a young child was recently refused entry inside a taxi, despite having a sick child by his side.

According to local media reports, the father made dire attempts to transport his sick child named Louise to the hospitals’ A&E department but he was blatantly refused by the driver since he did not have a face mask on.

The incident went viral on social media with many wondering why the incident took place, especially since the father wore a medical exemption card around his neck, which was very visible.

But that just was not good enough for the taxi driver who stated that 25-year-old Joseph Roberton needed to wear one if he wished to take a ride inside his cab.

Joseph and his partner had reportedly gone about making the taxi’s booking when they noticed their child’s medical health worsening on Thursday, January 6 at about 1 am.

Little Louise who was just 18 months old had a very visible swelling on his face and his parents knew he needed medical attention quickly. But little did they know that they would be facing this dilemma regarding transport.

There was also visible pus surrounding the young boy’s eyes but no matter how much the parents tried to convince the driver, he refused to listen.

The couple went on to mention how the expected time for an ambulance was around 8 to 10 hours and since they don’t drive themselves, this was the only option that they found feasible.

Joseph also explained how he himself was a patient suffering from anxiety as well as panic attacks. Both these conditions give him an increased heart rate and for that reason, he received his medical exemption card with a sunflower lanyard accompanying it.

When things didn’t work out, the heartbroken couple arranged for another couple and did manage to get their son to the hospital on time but for them, this experience was nothing less than an absolute nightmare.
