The FIFA World Cup final match between France and Argentina may be over but the drama continues.
A report is speaking about a new petition by fans that has managed to receive 200,000 signatures and still counting. The petition is aimed at replaying the final as many felt the first two goals scored by Argentina were unfair and hence shouldn’t have been considered by the referee.
Many are calling out the decision as incorrect and they’re demanding a replay as they feel France was robbed of the World Cup Trophy.
As anyone can imagine, the calls are definitely coming from those that felt France was the more deserving team to win that night. And it has fans from Argentina furious.
The centerpiece match that took place last week on Sunday won the hearts of millions around the globe after it turned out to be an absolute showstopper for obvious reasons.
Both teams thrilled fans till the last second and it was all down to a penalty shootout. And this is where Messi’s team scored big time and won in a manner that had people screaming with joy!
This is certainly not the first time that we’re witnessing the likes of poor referee decisions take center stage at such a grand tournament in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The referee’s decision was also doubted big time by English fans who felt their team may have been in the finals if the referee acknowledged actions that were unfair during play. But despite raising their voice, nothing happened.
The referee was conned not once but twice during Argentina’s goals, the majority who signed the online petition mentioned. But whether the 210,000 signatures it received could actually make a difference, considering the tournament is over, well, we don’t think so. What about you?
