The fight to ensure Jordan Chiles isn’t stripped of her bronze medal from this year’s Paris Olympics continues.
The USA Olympic Committee says that the CAS made a series of shocking errors when it handled the high-profile case.
Not only was it accused of emailing the wrong individuals for updates on what measures were taken against the star athlete but also gave them little to no time to react accordingly.
Within no time, they were quick to come out with the final verdict that ruled Ana Barbosu from Romania as the winner for bronze, meaning Chiles would be stripped of her medal for the floor final.
Speaking to USA Today, they mentioned how the notices were forwarded to the wrong email IDs and it was only after three days that they could contact Chris McCleary who is the general counsel. This was after Romania appealed Chiles’ final scorecard.
Team USA chiefs claim that not having enough time to respond is a major error and could have prevented the incident of stripping the star of her bronze, which she was promised after her hard work and effort.
‘They deprived us of our time and that’s not acceptable. This behavior is unacceptable and we cannot accept the verdict’- they continued.
