Johnny Depp’s legal team has officially filed an appeal against the $2 million defamation award granted to Amber Heard during the explosive trial last month.
The monetary compensation worth $2 million was granted to Amber Heard at the trial last month in Virginia. The celeb was seen filing a notice of appeal on Friday. This was believed to be an attempt to overturn the court’s decision, as shown by the court records.
It’s quite interesting to see the timing of these filings that are reportedly coming just one day after Amber Heard officially appealed the staggering $10.35 million verdict that was made against her.
Amber Heard stated that she wants the current Virginia Court of Appeals to come forward and overturn that verdict, as returned in the case seen on June 1.
In addition to that, the celeb was seen mentioning how she wished to have the order made by Judge Penney on the 13th of this month overturned as well, in which the judge was seen denying post-trial motions.
The incident comes just 24 hours after his former partner did a similar move to try and overturn the three mega defamation charges that had been alleged by the jury against her name.
Jurors had reportedly sent out a ruling that she had been defamed when one of Johnny Depp’s lawyers called out all of the allegations that had struck out against her name as an absolute ‘hoax’.
On that note, Johnny Depp had been ordered by the jury to pay his ex-wife $2 million in compensation for that behavior as they felt it was damaging to her reputation. But Depp’s legal team is not happy with the decision and wants to appeal against it.
The actor was recently caught mentioning in regards to the recent filing that it was done to make sure all of the information would be considered by the court of law and so that nothing would be left out.
