A man was fatally shot by the police at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport on Thursday morning, as declared by authorities.
Officers from Peel Regional Police rushed to the scene after responding to Terminal 1 of the airport on the morning on Thursday. The investigation is now being carried out by the Special Investigations Unit.
Peel Police shared how there were reports about a man in distress inside an SUV, right before 7 am. When officers found him, he allegedly brandished a firearm, as per the cops.
Three officers shot at him, and the man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he passed away shortly after that. The officers were not harmed in the incident.
Alarming reports had the airport under lockdown, and dozens of flights were reportedly delayed as a result of this.
At the moment, the cops claim there is no threat to human life. No other details were shared about the man, including his age and description. The news had travelers in a state of panic as trucks of police arrived to control the situation and clear the area.
