One pilot has gone about describing the devastating explosion that took center stage when an American Airlines flight took on a shocking mid-air collision with a Black Hawk helicopter.
The incident was confirmed by the FAA who says the tragedy arose on Wednesday night at 9pm when the jet was leaving Kansas.
It smashed into the helicopter as it was coming for its scheduled landing at the Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington.
Chilling control audio from the air traffic control can be heard asking the helicopter if it can see the plane. American Airlines did confirm that its jet did nothing wrong and was following all routine protocols.
Dramatic footage from another nearby camera showed two lights that merged with a fiery blast.
As per airport officials, emergency services were dispatched immediately after reports about the incident arose.
A pilot decided to immediately radio the air traffic control and exclaimed Tower, did you see that? just seconds after the impact arose. Another pilot in the vicinity shared how he saw a fireball and then it was just gone.
