The five family members who froze to death while on a Swiss skiing trip have been photographed as the search for the girlfriend of one of the victims continues.
The five men who were found dead in the Swiss Alps were named as brothers Laurent Moix, 21, David Moix, 27, and Jean Vincent Moix, 30, their cousin Marc Moix, 44, and their uncle Joel Moix, 58.
Another member of the group was identified as Emilie Deschenaux, David’s girlfriend, whose belongings were found next to the bodies.
The grieving parents of the siblings said in an obituary that their sons ‘fell asleep together’ and noted that Emilie ‘is still on the mountain.
Marc Moix’s family also wrote: “After a last hike in the mountains to share his light, he has become our new star, which will now be our guide.”
They also thanked those involved in the search for Marc and the others.
“Through their professionalism, their availability, their listening, their empathy, they brought everyone a little light and comfort in these difficult moments of waiting,” they wrote.
Media have speculated that Emilie may have fallen into a crevice as her skis and backpack were found but rescuers could not visually find her.
“The area is full of crevices – [she] may have fallen near the other members of the group. But this is just speculation,” Air Zermatt chief Anjan Truffer said.
