Naming a child is an extremely daunting task but let’s not forget about the great pressure linked to family members who love to intervene and have their say.
One woman is speaking about her shock and horror when her mother-in-law had the audacity to go behind her back and alter her newborn’s name while she fell asleep.
Speaking on the online platform Reddit, the mother explained how becoming a parent for the first time came with its fair share of problems and anxiety. She was scared as ever for the delivery but once she got through that dilemma, she knew that she wouldn’t have to stress over other things as much.
Now, the mom reveals how she is having to deal with drama at home, and her mother-in-law is involved.
She and her husband had chosen a baby name and they stuck to their decision. But she had no idea about the unpredictable nature of her mother-in-law.
The fact that she would end up going behind her back and changing the baby’s name with her son left her fuming for obvious reasons.
While she admits that she’s awfully disappointed in her man, she cannot even begin to imagine why or how her mother-in-law found this behavior alright to change the newborn’s name, without taking her permission.
“I am the mother, I have the right to have a say in this!”- she explained. But the mother-in-law argued how she was the granny and that gave her the right to name her first grandchild too.
If that was not bizarre enough, the mother-in-law called her out for naming her child something that was too common and ordinary.
Therefore, the new mom is now asking netizens online for advice. She hates fighting but her mother-in-law and her husband have left her in a very awkward position and she wants a proper solution.
