Top boxing star from Algeria, Imane Khelif has been the subject of major controversy for quite some time now.
Now, her father is stepping up to the plate to try and counter the backlash surrounding his daughter’s gender identity row.
The father, Amar Khelife says it’s so painful for people to raise questions on whether or not his daughter is a male or female, adding how it must be so painful for her to endure the ordeal throughout the Olympics.
He’s been watching silently from home for so long but has now opted to break his silence, once and for all.
According to him, trolls and critics are attacking his daughter for no reason. Ever since she beat her Italian component Angela Carini, fair and square, she’s been slammed as a male.
Moreover, the International Boxing Association has also raised fingers on her, bringing up previous test results which she failed due to high levels of testosterone, disqualifying her from the competition.
Now, her dad is bringing to light some very important documents including her birth certificate that shows how her identity at birth is a female.
The documents were shared with Mail Online and he feels this is exactly what is needed to silence the oppressors who have been attacking Imane unnecessarily.
The document is dated May 2, 1999, and mentions how Imane was born a female, which is a clear slap in the face to the IBA chief who demanded proof.
