Top boxer from Algeria, Imane Khelif was seen sobbing after her victory against Hungary’s Anna Luca Amori.
Many accused the Algerian of being a male who was allowed to compete as a female, forcing her opponent to leave crying after less than five minutes of the competition.
Social media users around the globe were on fire to call the boxer out and also slammed the authorities for allowing her to compete even though she had been banned from one of the competitions at the Olympics in the past.
She even failed her International Boxing Association eligibility tests last year and that again added more fuel to fire.
The International Olympic Committee mentioned how she was disqualified in the past because her levels of testosterone were at an all-time high. This was right before her fight on Saturday.
But Hamaori, her opponent insisted that she did not feel this was fair as she was still given the freedom to compete.
Khelif was cleared to fight with the President of the IOC who defended her inclusion into the event.
He spoke about how she worked hard and therefore earned her spot at the top of the tables. After a week of being scrutinized and facing all sorts of pressure from the Western media, she was able to win and guaranteed herself a medal at this year’s Olympics. On that note, she was seen breaking down into tears.
