The viewers of the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards were left scratching their heads after the show was hijacked by a mysterious green goblin.
Dressed as a wart-covered green creature with prosthetics and all, one attendee of the 2023 awards event managed to surprise the audience by showing off their unusual appearance at the glamorous occasion.
As it happens, the naughty individual was identified as Princess Poppy, a cast member of Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
Completing her bizarre look, Poppy donned a green strapless dress, a green jewelry set, and a greenish handbag adorned with doll heads.
While on the red carpet, the contestant of the show’s 15th season admitted she wanted to appear shocking enough to draw attention.
“I wanted to do the exact opposite of what is expected of you when you go to an event like this. I wanted to take decorum and turn it on its head. Mainly I wanted to be a troll-slash-hag,” she told ‘ she told Entertainment Weekly.
“I wanted to be so shocking that you just have to turn and look at me — in the worst way possible.”
Attending the 2023 Emmy Awards, Poppy was joined by fellow castmates including Marcia Marcia Marcia, Jax, Salina EsTitties, Luxx Noir London, Sasha Colby, Irene Dubois, Aura Mayari, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Robin Fierce, and Sugar and Spice.
Prior to the goblin’s identification, plenty of viewers were left stunned by Poppy’s unique red carpet look.
“Uh.. why is there a green goblin on the red carpet just doing her thing like its nbd?” someone pondered on X.
“Sorry is anyone gonna talk about the green goblin that was on the red carpet for the Emmys,” another said.
A third joked: “Another Emmys another creepy costume on the red carpet.”
