A verdict has been reached in Gwyneth Paltrow’s controversial ski crash trial on Thursday.
The Hollywood actress appeared in court after retired optometrist Terry Sanderson sued her for $300,000 and insisted she left him with permanent brain damage when she allegedly crashed into him at a Utah ski resort back in 2016.
Bringing the high-profile trial to an end, the jury reached a verdict in just under two hours and a half and ruled in the actress’s favor saying she was not liable in the ski crash case.
“We’re pleased with the outcome and appreciate the judge and jury’s consideration,” Paltrow’s attorney, Stephen Owens, told the reporters that gathered outside the court after the verdict.
“Gwyneth has a history of standing up for what’s right and this situation is no different. She will continue to stand up for what’s right.”
Releasing an official statement was also the actress who via a representative said: “I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity.
“I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”
Despite the ruling in Paltrow’s favor, Sanderson maintains innocence and insists that the actress was at fault and that his version of the events was the correct one.
“I’ve been a lawyer for 30 years and juries never surprise me,” his attorney, Kristin Van Orman, said as she suggested the jury might have been star-struck.
Speaking of her client, the lawyer added: “He is suffering, he’s a very nice man.”
