A federal judge has blocked President Trump’s executive order banning trans people from being enlisted or serving in the armed forces.
The US District Judge who goes by the name Ana Reyes from Washington DC ruled that this ban would violate the equal protection clause because it discriminates based on trans status and gender.

The ban was said to be soaked in animus and the language is unabashedly demeaning. The policy stigmatizes trans people as inherently unfit and the conclusions bear zero relation to the fact, she went on to share.
She explained how the cruel irony lies in the fact that thousands of trans service members ended up sacrificing and some even went as far as to risk their lives to ensure for others that they were getting the right kind of equal protection rights from the Military ban that denies them.

Reyes then went on to share how the delayed effect of this preliminary injunction will continue until Friday to provide the administration with a little bit more time to appeal.
She mentioned in that order that the government may have crafted this policy that offers a balance as the nation’s need for a prepared military and also the country’s rights to equal protection.
